ways to advertiseThere are tons of expenses that go along with starting up a new business. In addition to paying rent, stocking inventory, and purchasing equipment, you’ll need to commit some funds to advertising. Not everyone remembers to budget out advertising costs ahead of time and wind up scrambling to put together a half-way decent marketing campaign.

There are many ways to advertise that won’t cost you a dime. First off, you should set up free social networking accounts on Facebook and Twitter. This will allow you to get the word out without costing you a dime. Other ways to advertise include having coasters printed and sidewalk chalking. You’ll also want to coordinate with local businesses (that don’t compete with your own) to advertise in their establishments. To sweeten the deal you can work out an arrangement such as if a customer brings in a receipt from an establishment  that allows you to advertise, you’ll give that customer a discount.

small business advertising solutions

As a small business owner my only two concerns are increasing revenue and bringing in more customers. I’m not interested in Tweeting, Facebook posting, or any other social media solution. It’s not that I don’t think these tools are effective; I just don’t have the time to sit on my computer all day promoting my business online.

My target audience is local, so Tweeting to customers across the country isn’t going to drive customers into my brick and mortar store. Instead, I use targeted small business advertising solutions. Creative advertising like sidewalk chalking and advertising at gas pumps are much more effective. These clever, well-designed advertisements are more likely to bring in a local crowd than an online campaign.
