sidewalk advertisingChalking is huge on college campuses. Chalking is a form of sidewalk advertising where an organization or business can advertise a new product or upcoming event. For instance, the Gamer Symphony Orchestra at the University of Maryland chalks all over campus for its events. In addition to the dates and times of their concerts, they draw video game characters to catch the attention of passersby.

The Bureau, a sketch comedy group, chalks out jokes to advertise their shows. Sororities and fraternities use chalking to advertise their open houses. Even local night clubs chalk to promote their DJs, drink specials, and parties. While college clubs may only have access to traditional sidewalk chalk, there are clings for sidewalks, sidewalk paint, and less soluble chalk that will make your sidewalk advertising last longer. Expand your business with this innovative form of outdoor advertising.

Kinect advertisingDo you remember the book “Everyone Poops”? It’s the quintessential children’s book that teaches young kids about going to the bathroom. Though you may think that it’s not glamorous, bathroom advertising is highly effective because everyone has to use the facilities at some point during their day. Even large corporations are using this form of advertisement.

There’s a little company called Microsoft – I think you’ve heard of it – which got into the bathroom advertising with a campaign for the Kinect. Microsoft uses clings on bathroom mirrors that say things like “You’re looking at 5 million years of R&D” and “Who knew you would grow up to be the next Xbox 360 controller?” Clings aren’t the only way to advertise in the bathroom. Posters with witty phrases are often hung on the front and back of bathroom stalls or above urinals. Bathroom advertising is often about humor because of its location, so have fun and be creative with your campaign.

adssss.jpgOur second installment of effective advertising tips is one that most new business owners, and some seasoned ones just don’t pay enough attention to. Establishing an image for your business is critical to its lasting success. Some people call it branding but it doesn’t necessarily have to be taken to the extent of say, Nike or McDonald’s. Creating an image for yourself could be done with tactics as simple as signage or even t-shirts.

Many of the most popular brands in every market are recognizable by their logo. The logo brings to mind not only an image of the business but of the product or products they’re selling. In some cases the name of a business itself has become synonymous with what they do. For example, the brand name Xerox has come to be recognized as a verb. People don’t just copy things anymore, they Xerox them. Aim for this sort of lasting image and you’ll be glad you did. And once you’ve developed your image get it out to as many prospective customers as possible with the help of a company like pacificmedia

ads.jpgWhen it comes to effective advertising there’s more to do than just place your ad in the right place. In order to get the most out of your message there are a few simple tips you can use to maximize your advertising dollar. One of the most important aspects of advertising is reaching your target audience.

Advertising techniques come and go but identifying your target is a mainstay that must be followed. A lot of people new to advertising make the common mistake of creating a generic ad. Not only does this not cater to your target, it will be completely ignored by almost everyone. Start with identifying your target and then customizing your ad campaign to reach it. By tailoring your ads to your niche you’re ensuring that your customers hear you. Speak their language and grab their attention for an effective campaign that will increase your bottom line.

cooler.jpgAdvertising. Any business that doesn’t advertise is bound to suffer the fate of so many that came before it. No matter what you’re selling or who you’re selling it to, it’s absolutely critical that you identify your target market and then make yourself known to it. Staying top-of-mind is more than just a buzz-phrase these days. When consumers think about your product or service you want them thinking of you. This will drive customers through your doors and increase your bottom line.

But identifying your market is only one step to effective marketing. After you’ve identified your target you must learn how to reach them, and reach them effectively. You can’t just send a message and hope it gets picked up. You need to use creativity and innovation to make your message heard. More importantly, you need to make your message listened to. If you can accomplish this then you’ll be doing yourself a favor when it comes time to balance your budget.
